Strip wax has become increasingly popular amongst waxers. Strip wax provides a speedy application with an extra-strong grip, no sticky residue, and no skin drag. It is applied by spreading a thin layer along the skin and then removed with a woven or non-woven strip (pelon or muslin). consistencies, vanilla!

Ultra Flexxx Vanilla Hot Wax
This new “white wax” by Mancine is a stripless wax (also called hot wax and hard wax). It’s formulated for exceptional results using the most advanced technology.

Wax Spotlight: Pink Chiffon Hard Wax Beads

Ingredients: Beeswax, Lanolin, Gum rosin, Glycerol ester rosin, EVA copolymer, White NTC-68757, Rosso Rubin 71536/5, Blue MDN-1034

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

  1. Warm up wax beads to lukewarm temperature and becomes completely liquefied.
  2. Prep & wipe the skin thoroughly. Pat skin dry.
  3. A cornstarch powder can be used to absorb excess body oils.
  4. Dip wooden spatula into wax and spread a thin and even layer of wax on the area you wish to wax in the same direction of hair growth. Wait 30 seconds or so and press down with hand. Firmly hold the skin with one hand and with the other hand, pull wax in the opposite direction of hair growth.
  5. When waxing is completed, cleanse skin thoroughly with the Dermwax Calendula post wax oil. This will remove any residue left behind and soothe and hydrate the skin.

CAUTION: For external use only. Open can carefully to avoid injury. Do not ingest. Avoid contact with eyes. To avoid potential burns, always test wax temperature before applying on skin (temperature should not exceed 120°F). Keep out reach of children.

Tearing Down Sterotypes – One Wax at a Time

As you may have noticed, we Pure Spa Direct team members are a little obsessed with waxing. We love the trends, we love trying new wax, and we love reading about it all!

Skin Inc magazine published a fantastic article regarding the shifting trends in waxing recently. In the article “The Changing World of Hair Removal,” Cali VanAelst, national trainer for Cirepil by Perron Rigot, explores how waxing is breaking stereotypes – being beauty stereotypes, gender stereotypes, and more.

The beauty industry is one of acceptance and empowerment, and no one is in a better place to promote body positivity than a waxer! Just because your client is there to get a Brazilian doesn’t mean she also wants an underarm wax…..but maybe she does! Figuring out how to offer add-on services in an understanding manner is going to be key, and those in the industry who nail that will see much success.

Wax Spotlight: Lycon Active Gold

When I was looking for a new wax to try this week, I knew I wanted to try out one of Lycon’s popular soft waxes. As one of the most popular waxes in their lineup, Lycon Active Gold was a clear choice!

Lycon describes Active Gold as such: Like liquid gold, luxurious to apply and to look at! An extremely popular strip wax. Glows like gold and removes hair effectively, gently and quickly. Contains the soothing benefits of Chamomile and the finest grade of gold Micro Mica, for extra gentle waxing and no skin drag.

This wax is absolutely beautiful and applies very easily. It goes on very thin, so for waxing large areas, this is an effective, economical choice! I found this wax to be a dream when removing fine, thin, and medium thickness hairs, but it did not perform quite as well on short, stubborn hairs. However, it was very gentle on the skin…and one wax generally can’t do it all!

This wax was a dream to work with for large waxing areas, such as arms and legs. And unless the hair is very thick or coarse, I think this would be a great choice for some male waxing as well! Lycon Active Gold removed hair in 1 pull and left the skin clear, smooth, and free of residue.

If you are looking for an excellent wax for large areas, fine hair, and sensitive skin, Lycon Active Gold is a great option!
